BIMSTEC Week Exhibition

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Royal Government of Thailand organized a “BIMSTEC Week” exhibition from June 20 – 24, 2007 at Thailand Knowledge Park, Central World Plaza to celebrate the 10th anniversary of BIMSTEC. The Exhibition was organized to display the history and development of the cooperation in various sectors as well as the profile of BIMSTEC member countries. A reception was held on 20th June, which was attended by members of diplomatic corps of BIMSTEC countries, mediapersons and other distinguished guests. At the reception, Thai Deputy Foreign Minister gave his opening remarks followed by a speech by the Indian Ambassador, Ms. Latha Reddy. Afterwards the award ceremony of ‘Discover BIMSTEC Postcards’ design competition took place in which the winners among the BIMSTEC countries included Ms. Sanjana Datta (aged 16 years) from India. During the 5 days BIMSTEC Week Exhibition various activities were held at TK Park, Central World Plaza to make the young children aware of the BIMSTEC countries. DVDs on country profiles and cultural performances by BIMSTEC countries were also presented at the exhibition.
